Pigeon Hole 03:27
PIGEON HOLE tossing off a thought, 2:52pm 24 degrees outside lips are cracked, so blue the cold as winter turns its cheek to the tide dreaming of a sunny day a warmer day, a brighter day nothing but the weather in the way 2:54, now we're headed for the floor making love to the prisoner of the dust war struggling to breathe breaking all the binding just to see stop and shake and sway it all away dreaming of a sunny day a warmer day, a brighter day nothing but the weather in the way stop a little short, 2:58 now all the pigeons on the wire desecrate they sing their battle hymn and they scurry to defend the ground below their aeronautical estate dreaming of a sunny day a warmer day, a brighter day nothing but the weather in the way -2/6/07

WITHERING RIOT we're gonna keep on down that old dirt road and see the withering riot house explode we've been there once or twice mingled with the rats and mice now, it's time to burn the riotous abode and then we'll keep on driving down the road i've heard talk of the surroundings and the chaos gone awry i've heard tell of open-endings and insincere long goodbyes i've seen it in the billboards and i've seen it in the sky i've seen it in the oceans and i've seen them walking by i've seen their indecision make an old man cry we're gonna keep on down that old dirt road and see the withering riot house explode we've been there once or twice mingled with the rats and mice now, it's time to burn the riotous abode and then we'll keep on driving down the road i've heard poison's in the water lick the salt from tears of rage i've seen them strangle daughters while singing praises of the coming age i've seen it on the telly and i've smelled it in the air i've seen it on their bumpers and the way they wear their hair i've seen it in their eyes as if they just don 't care we're gonna keep on down that old dirt road and see the withering riot house explode we've been there once or twice mingled with the rats and mice now, it's time to burn the riotous abode and then we'll keep on driving down the road i've felt the tension in the talking the way they mention all their pain i read about the way they looked a good idea down the drain i've seen it in the papers in the rags and magazines i've seen it from the stage down through the rows and mezzanines i've seen it spill from conscious minds and lunatics who scream we're gonna keep on down that old dirt road and see the withering riot house explode we've been there once or twice mingled with the rats and mice now, it's time to burn the riotous abode and then we'll keep on driving down the road -2/7/07

HELENA'S MASK press-on plastic a ten cent shroud eyes like the sun or a gentle nod hair of gold or a darker, darker shade hide from the mess everybody made cheeks of rose painted smile on eyes on toes too squint, too sly arms akimbo through din of smoke or the clouds the storm of which the weather lady spoke raise a glass and toast to sweet helena this simple sin, a no-brainer cast to casket she reels from her last great fit she's home at last beneath her brittle mask -2/6/07

Wind Me Up 05:32
WIND ME UP wind me up, wind me up wind me out take a moment in the mirror just a reflection in a pool is it close? or getting nearer? to the footsteps of the last one fooled and it rings just like a shattered bell full of shimmer - where's the shine? it echoes where the eagles dwell and waste their time press the pretty head and push the petals to the floor punish those who said they could not take it any more wind me up, wind me up wind me out take a walk beside the shoreline or a precipice above the ancient wall sing like an angel smell like cheap wine she staggers, then she stops and starts to crawl no one knows the path she's taken if only she could see the point when she sings, they stop and revel in her awakening if she stops, they ask her if she's still awake wind me up, wind me up wind me out above all the mountains of the media and lights above all the voices and the cowards of the fight above all the tokens of the evening and the night wind me up, wind me up with all your might sit and scream and whine and curse, lament those other days just like the tortoise and the hearse reversing everything she says she walks just like fallen star and burns her markings on the lawn and says "i'll take you far but i cannot take you on" closing eyes and shuttered tongues dismiss the old decay of frigid hearts and fire lung divisions of the fray wind me up, wind me up wind me out wind me up, wind me up wind me out and carry me away -2/6/07

Disastering 05:15
DISASTERING smash this face on an empty wall call it art or call it excuse crooked mirrors dance in the debutante's ball in the evening they seduce diamondbacks or a double deuce harnessed they retreat into the corner they got nothing left to eat their eyes upon the ceiling some palatial cage fueling the rage of the killing stage perish convoy reckoning hubris on display polished like a beacon angel lost at play for once, the air is stagnant save the spirals on the lawn stay away - it's like a magnet for the pressers-on a field day to remember all that's lost, if they were there on the eighth day of november underneath the slanted stairs we're all waiting there pious arch-revival at the entrance to the cave stranded in denial that he coulda saved a set up, a moving target a game of chance that no one wins the pieces never fit, so they just forget it truth is, after all, a basic yes a building block, if all the fables fit after that, it's anybody's guess but still they always wash their hands of it -2/7/07

LOVE OVER YONDER it's in the way that you shatter sometimes the way you gotta deal with the blues it's not just a feather in a dunce cap or some half baked or cheap excuse it's in the way that you loose the chains now relax and take it on your own rescind, the devil's peeking in he better stay away from you do you see all that you do? don't look now but there's love over yonder there's love over yonder as sure as the cold wind blows there's love over yonder there's love over yonder you can see the tracks of its toes on the surface of the snow scattered souls shiver singing sad songs sometimes and sometimes they shoot out the lights and sometimes they take up all your sweet time and sometimes they say good night shattered souls shiver singing sad songs sometimes and sometimes they can't see the sights and sometimes they're higher than kites no, they can't be good for you do you see all that you do? don't look now but there's love over yonder there's love over yonder as sure as the sun still shines there's love over yonder there's love over yonder you can see it between the lines on the surface of the snow there will come a time when the snakes don't lie when the only sound heard is the wind in the sky there will come a time when the creeks don't freeze and we'll never have to beg for mercy on our knees fragile is her smile so evil is her frown let me sing to you a little while don't let it get you down... don't look now but there's love over yonder there's love over yonder as sure as the cold wind blows there's love over yonder there's love over yonder you can see the tracks of its toes on the surface of the snow don't look now but there's love over yonder there's love over yonder as sure as the sun still shines there's love over yonder there's love over yonder you can see it between the lines on the surface of the snow -2/6/07

THE SLEEPIN' LIFE i wanna be asleep and in the darkness all my secrets keep tossed and turned or still as stone crossed and burned like winds, i'm blown away you can bend me, break me offend me, shake me upend me, fake me transcend me, forsake me but you better not wake me sometimes i dream the same dream sometimes they take me for a spin sometimes i dream a different dream but see the same faces time again you can bend me, break me offend me, shake me upend me, fake me transcend me, forsake me but you better not wake me i wanna be asleep and in my blanket all my chaos keep tossed and turned or still as stone crossed and burned like winds, i'm blown away you can bend me, break me offend me, shake me upend me, fake me transcend me, forsake me but you better not wake me -2/7/07

DAUGHTERS OF MORLEY she tears a different tear and lies awake, indifferent years her eyes are slim and sunken in retreating from her fear casting stones at a cast of one she's overboard, she's overdone sometimes she looks beyond the sun she dreams a different dream she'll toss and turn and writhe and scream she wonders why behind her bloodshot eyes that it was so that it was so extreme she needs a different need like the birds and the bees she takes the fruit and the seed you now, she done 'em un she wonders where theyall have been while she's wrapped in her velvet skin fragile eyes belie a desire to bleed she dreams a different dream she'll toss and turn and writhe and scream she wonders why behind her bloodshot eyes that it was so that it was so extreme she laughs a different laugh takes it off and takes it back sirens wail on the boulevard at the break of dawn she heard 'em but forgot to scream beyond the dungeons in her dreams over it, she kept on down the line she dreams a different dream she'll toss and turn and writhe and scream she wonders why behind her bloodshot eyes that it was so that it was so extreme -2/9/07

INTERIOR BRAIN POLICEMAN all is quiet on the cerebral front no dogs or rats in the maze crush each thought and call off the hunt and level the fog in this place all is quiet for a moment at least the haze and the hate, off at play press and depress and devour the feast and forget all the lions of the day all is quiet till the days draw down and the pushers and the watchers all retreat from the gates of the field in the old ghost town they're lying in state out in the street all is quiet on the cerebral front just a hint of a sound that's so pleasing the sirens of reason, piercing and blunt of the interior brain policeman -2/7/07

Ripsy's Gift 03:05
RIPSY'S GIFT "i don't feel the rain no more" said the old man at the cellar door "it's not my style to while away thinking of whatever came before" our dreams, they shatter like mirrors with a twist that's as simple as fate pining away like our still-fallen heroes who are too consumed by waiting so long and thanks for the offering so long and thanks for the sting so long, like it never meant anything we lie awake and dream about the day and i never meant to bleed you and i never meant to need you more than i do they said it wasn't true "i don't hear that song no more" said the old man at the cellar door "i feel slightly misled but it's nothing i've never heard before" and the light still flickers like a halo that's as bruised and beat just like everyone's it takes me back to those moments in the corner when all we did was try and run so long and thanks for the reckoning so long to the deacon of the wreck so long, is it worth the cost of everything to live a while with it wrapped around your neck and i never meant to hurt you and i never wanted to desert you but it was all that i could do i felt it all from you and they all knew it too when you said it wasn't true their ghosts drift around the empire and they bless it while fanning the flames just like nero, we sing to the fire and we never escape the blame -2/12/07

HEART ON THE WALL it's the way that she moves the way that she breathes the way that she tells me she still loves me it's the way that she beckons the way that she calls the way that she says she's fallen for me yet again she's my diamond, my saint my any and all yeah, sometimes i wear my heart on the wall it's the way that she sings the way that she cries the way that she brings tears of joy to my eyes it's the way that she walks the way that she coos the way that she smiles that erases all the blues she's an angel, a flower my goddess of all yeah, sometimes i wear my heart on the wall it's the way that she laughs the way that she sighs the way that she splinters me down to size it's the way that she dances the way that she screams the way that she loves me beyond what it seems she's my diamond, my saint my any and all yeah, sometimes i wear my heart on the wall she's an angel, a flower my goddess of all yeah, sometimes i wear my heart on the wall -2/6/07

END OF AN EMPIRE it's the end of the empire the end of all crowns the thorns are too wicked to keep around it's the end of the empire the end of all crowns too bloody for brilliance ideals abound it's the end of the empire the end of all crowns bury it two thousand years deep in the ground... -2/7/07
