Mad Honey 04:02
behind the wise man is a fool who pulls the strings and makes it look so cool oh well, another diamond in the sieve we just forget it and we keep on living that dream it seems that we are the honey, you're the bee but no, although it's kinda funny now we see beyond what's gone like a flash in front of me oh my, just keep dreamin' b'y along the ledge, we shout and cry but no one hears us, they keep moving by who knows how these moments all play out we're just a fragment and we've gone without for so long all gone, dried out, from all the dirt up in the snouts of all those pigs who stomp and shout and act too big for all those moves you gotta steer clear of the blues you fool, just play it cool around the corner is a curse that stopped the world and sent us in reverse oh hell, we couldn't write it if we tried but we can craft the end if we just play it right, oh my this time, it's done, it's gotta be the light because how long can we consume this mad honey good god, this trip is not what we saw when we signed up you fool, you broke the golden rule -9/26/19

Deliria 06:56
let's join our hands in deliria take it like a madman deliria there's nothing left to prove in deliria you better not move empty promises and rain the storm keeps coming round again it's getting to the point where every angle is a joint beyond the frame static pause and diamond waste above the noise and all the haste we're backed into the wall but still just inches from the fall into the space let's raise our flag in deliria shake it off the drag deliria there's nothing but the wind in deliria you better not bend heavy haze and righteous reds below the surface of our heads the stories that we hear among the buzzing in our ears they keep us fed honey wind and fire spray from all the outlaws in the way they sing about the pain but never stop to feel the rain rinse it away let's close our eyes in deliria cut it down to size in deliria leave it all behind in deliria don't ya go blind boulder shots and cavern swells beyond the reaches of this shell we climbed in just for fun we're hiding out from all the ones who will never tell shuttered eyes and downward face a lasting image of our grace this time it's more than this it's nothing that we'd ever miss do not erase there's violins in deliria we've made it to the end in deliria let's do it all again in deliria let's do it all again in deliria let's do it all again -9/28/19

i sit and watch the world go by i don't know my, i need a friend a shadow between every side of my dream and every step that takes me round the bend yeah, these ghosts are taking over since the winter it's been nothing but the wind yeah, these ghosts are taking over bring the clover, leave the poison out, my friend it's not over til we say - ring out again it's time to bring the joy once more instead of barricading all the doors well, it all comes down to who's gonna wear that crown and what we plan to do on the way down yeah, these ghosts are taking over too much aching, too much ailing in the fray yeah, these ghosts are taking over every angle, there's some evil in the way it's not over til we say ring out again and think about the wind til it all comes round again it's time to live out loud i know there's nothing left to know except everything, that's why it never ends it's just the way that it goes when it's under your nose just to try and sing that same old song again yeah, these ghosts are taking over in the evening, in the dim, they fight to win yeah, these ghosts are taking over every morning it's the same damn thing again it's not over til we say it it's not over til we say ring out again and think about the wind and take a little spin til it all comes round again it's time to live out loud i sit and watch the world go by i don't know why, i need a friend -6/16/19

Rosie In Red 04:34
rosie, like a thorn, feels the iron wall backed in a corner where the giants seem so small take another breath, look around and see what's there out beyond the bushes where there's no one left to stare time is an angel sometimes she flies over all the dark and the strings of the sunrise rosie's in red sometimes she cries rosie's got a hand in the dawn of something better than the fire, let the siren sing swat 'em off, wait until the moments pass you by faster than a bullet right between the eyes time is an angel sometimes she flies over all the dark and the strings of the sunrise rosie's in red sometimes she cries rosie hums a tune to herself and gets on sliding through the mirrors two times, she's gone shout it out even when it don't seem like they'll hear just so you know you've got nothing left to fear time is an angel sometimes she flies over all the dark and the strings of the sunrise rosie's in red sometimes she cries -10/9/19

it's a fine line between the devil and the dark i heard the old man weeping in the corner of the park on the last day before his angel went away i shut up for a moment til we went our separate ways and divided the last of all our pride there's nothing but disaster in the outward angel's eyes it's a fine line if you feel you've got the time to wait for the revival and reverse your paradigm it's a cold snap when you feel you're off the rails and nothing will decide it faster than a bed of nails on the ground where all the firewalkers tread dancing like a seraphim whose wings were left for dead in the light, now, there's nothing all so clear but something like a siren that's been singing all these years it's a fine line if you feel you've got the guts to shout it at the ghost who's living deep beneath the ruts it's a blind spot where you'll never see it there speeding like a bullet train from here to god knows where down the drain we sit and watch it all go down dribble from my brain off to the darker side of town there's a point there but what it is i just don't know it smells just like survival but it tastes like overflow it's a fine line between the devil and the dark and the ones who shout the loudest are the ones who light the spark it's a fine line -10/9/19

Ejector 03:22
ten ton fire on an ill wind plane strangled in the mire like a cat in the rain pleasing me don't take much more than just a word until i'm flying off the handle like shit in a herd the time has come for you to get out half-wit, nit-wit, it's all just shit delivered to the ether like a hissy fit there's nothing else standing in the way from here to there but still he sits there rotting in his golden chair the time has come for you to get out tangled in a web that don't make sense they eat it all up and ask for seconds diamond dolls on the route of the parade just another cheap remnant of that old charade blink twice, maybe it is all some kind of dream now we're standing in the doorway of a silent scream the time has come for you to get out -10/9/19

this is a song about the degradation of mary she's standing in the corner and she's kinda scared she satisfied the ghost on the wall with some kind of offering he smiled at the light, grabbed his hat and wandered off mary's got flood light diamond eyes on the back of the mirror she goes flyin' by mary's got the time to make it right, oh my along the road to wherever she goes, she will get there maybe for an hour or two before she's off again it's a dim kind of light where the shadow's too slow to receive it a deceiver on the run, it's barely too much to get on mary's got flood light diamond eyes on the back of the mirror she goes flyin' by mary's got the time to make it right, oh my down, down, down push the circle back to round down, down, down is it all in your head? this roaming red another drop from the fountain of moods that are lifting take it as it comes, you don't ever want to drift apart what the old man knows, he will tell you but first you must go there and weather all the tricks of the storm as it blows you away mary's got flood light diamond eyes on the back of the mirror she goes flyin' by mary's got the time to make it right, oh my down, down, down push the circle back to round down, down, down is it all in your head? this roaming red this growing spot on the surface of what's never ending it gives us pause....but never are we bending down and begging at the feet of that ghost as she's quietly drifting back into the shadow of the rift that she knows so well mary's got flood light diamond eyes on the back of the mirror she goes flyin' by mary's got the time to make it right, oh my down, down, down push the circle back to round down, down, down is it all in your head? this roaming red this is a song about the degradation of mary -9/28/19

just like a diamond in a sieve we cross the line before we give a damn i can feel the rhythm of the rain beating down on me again, oh man this talk is kinda like a big show oh my god i swear it's gonna blow sky high this fraud a paint by numbers world it's what we've got between the oil and the fog this troubled toil is a dog, no doubt i find it funny how it burns a hole between the yanks and yearns throughout our lives mean nothing to that big man in the sky it's everything we can do to just get by this paint by numbers world is ours, oh my another day to wash away all the shit we stirred while playing god until it ends we just ignore the shadows deep beyond the door's facade it's there bubbling beneath that old man's chair until it starts to break we're standing there this paint by numbers world is ours to share -10/9/19

Low Rise 03:43
it's a long way out to the edge of the world like a mirror beside the wall i'm looking on take a breath, my dear and think about that ride there's something about the wind that makes me high i'm taking my time on the low rise i'm taking my time underneath the blue there's a diamond wild dancing around the edge and shooting smiles what about that train it never rolled away just hiding beneath the brush until the new day i'm taking my time on the low rise i'm taking my time i've got it figured out but i don't know what it was that drew me to the flame and built the buzz maybe this is it breathe and dance and fly back into the void i've been passing by i'm taking my time on the low rise i'm taking my time -10/17/19

Gangbusters 03:07
diamonds on a razor blade never mind the mess we made below a spiral or a shooting star on the edges of a broken-down halo believe me, just this once were gonna go gangbusters a portrait of a jay who walked away she never stopped to say hello a pinch, a move to make it whole from the cellar to the spires of my soul believe me, just this once were gonna go gangbusters we'll bathe in the light you'll never know it, babe, until you try this time, i've got this trick up my sleeve i'm never gonna leave it alone no how, it's going down gangbusters! silicone, my shadow in the dark, its just another faded glow beyond this field of crows is that other one we left so long ago believe me, just this once were gonna go gangbusters -3/13/19

about

Chris Anderson's 83rd full-length album release

2019 was a year that saw many releases but not a lot of music being made. I was in a deep funk and my muse was as elusive as ever. A few times I managed to squeeze out a song. And then, out of the blue, inspiration hit, and the songs kept coming. The first such project started to take shape pretty quickly and it didn't take long before the basic framework of Mad Honey came together.

In October I traveled to Newfoundland for fifteen days and a good deal of that time was spent sitting at my friend Justin's table, staring out the window at the landscape that makes up my favorite place on earth. Many of the songs that came from that session were about Newfoundland, and my longstanding relationship with it. Other songs, however, better fit the theme of Mad Honey, and found a home here.

America, and the world in general, in 2019 was a bit of a mess. The media - both mainstream and social - had people in a frenzy. Ironically - and unfortunately - people were in a frenzy more or less to just be in a frenzy. People took their opinions too seriously and they fought. And fought. And continued to fight. For no real good reason.

And then there I was, standing in the middle of all of it, shaking my head and rolling my eyes. I had already explored similar themes earlier that year on an album called Shaker The Moon, but that commentary extended itself to Mad Honey as well. This is an album about standing in the middle of chaos with the full conviction of being the only person in the world who actually "gets" it.

2020 proved to be a crazier year, with the pandemic and the dirtiest election in US history, and this album is even more fitting now. Recorded in a flash, this was the first of a great many projects that were recorded all at the same time. These songs had populate the sets during my long-running "Social Distance Tour", and were all very well received, so not only is this album is a long time coming, but it is also quite anticipated. I appreciate those who have waited and I hope this album speaks to you.
